Lesia Topolnyk received the prize on December 1st from Gunay Uslu, the state secretary for Media and Culture, at Het Nieuwe Instituut. Lesia won the prize for her spatial proposal 'No innocent landscape'; a spatial design for the Ukrainian mining village of Hrabove, which became world news when passenger flight MH17 was shot down there in 2014. Her proposal shows how spatial design can help make far-reaching events understandable and help repair their consequences.
